FAQ

      • How old do I have to be to take the Teen Driver Course?

A student must be at least 14 1/2 years of age to enroll in the driving education course. Usually, it is better to wait until close to your 15th birthday because you will need to have your learner license to complete the course, and you will not qualify to have a learner license until you are 15. We offer a 12 months contract, which means you have to complete the entire course, classroom and in-car, within the 12 months period.
      • Do I have to pay upfront or all at once?

We require payment of at least $200 toward the total tuition amount upon enrollment in a class. The balance must be paid before the student can be issued the Teen Driver Education Certificate, and is due by the last day of the regularly-scheduled classroom session.
      • How long do I need to have my learner license (permit) before taking my test?

Anyone under 18 years of age must hold a permit for 6 months before they may qualify to take the road test for a driver license. The date of the 6 months is printed on the back-center of the learner license. If all other requirements are met by that date, the applicant is eligible to take the road test on or after that date.
      • Will I still need to go to a Texas DPS Driver License Office after I take my road test?

If you qualify, we can upload your documents to the TX DPS via an electronic portal so that you do not have to go into their office to have your license upgraded so that you can drive unsupervised. If you are interested in having us utilize the portal service, please call us to verify if you qualify for that service. If you don't qualify or don't choose to use that service, you will need to make an appointment with the Texas DPS to have your license upgraded.
